The Tin Can Island Command of the Nigerian Customs Service said it collected a total of NGN26,2 billion in total import duties fro the month of August.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Uche Ejesieme said the command is looking at increasing the revenue collection profile of the command through the introduction of structural reforms.

He also attributed the increase in revenue to the computerization of the revenue collection process and the entrenchment of due diligence through the Command Control Communication and Intelligence System, CCCIS.

The Lagos port is the highest revenue generator for Nigeria when it comes to collection of import duties. The state generates over 80% of all revenue collected by the customs.
