NSE Conducts Induction Ceremony For 39 Dealing Clerks

The Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE said it has conducted an induction ceremony for 39 recently qualified Dealing Clerks of the Exchange, with a charge to them to uphold the highest level of ethics and sense of responsibility.

In his opening remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of the NSE, Mr. Oscar N. Onyema, OON, congratulated the new inductees on passing the rigorous screening programme of NSE and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS).

He noted that there were 50 people who took part in the programme but only 39 passed the oral examinations designed to test the understanding of the practical aspect of the market.

Mr. Onyema advised the new brokers to see themselves as professionals who must maintain a high level of sincerity in the course of their practice. He underscored the importance of qualitative and ethical human resources in the development of the capital market, noting that the long-term sustainable growth of the market depends on well-trained and ethical operators.

2016-Induction-Ceremony-PIX-B.jpgAccording to him, the capital market will only be as good as the people working in it and the rigorous screening process of the Exchange’s dealing member qualification was essentially aimed at ensuring only the best hands operate in the market. “Yours is a call to be tall in integrity and spotless in character”.

While cautioning the inductees, Doyen of Stockbrokers, Alhaji Rasheed Yussuf, called on them to let their words be their bond. He reiterated the fact that the profession is a respectable one and they must not bring it to disrepute.
