USA’s Teenager Picks first Gold in Rio Olympics

The medal count has begun for United States of America ( USA ) after teenager Ginny Thrasher won the first gold medal of the Rio Olympic Games in women’s 10m air rifle.

The 19-year-old American secured her first major international victory, scoring 208.0 leaving China’s 2006 world champion Du Li with silver and her compatriot Yi Siling, the defending champion with bronze.

Thrasher is an NCAA champion at West Virginia competing in her first Olympics.
