Oscar Pistorius, the famous South African athlete and Olympic Gold medalist, has been jailed for six years.
At a well attended court session, the judge served him with the sentence of six years with an option of parole three years after the comencement of his sentence.
Pistorius was accused of shooting to death his girlfreind Reeva Steenkamp in 2014 at his South African home. While he confirmed that he shot her, he denied doing it on purpose that he mistook her for an ‘intruder’.
Pistorius was given a lighter sentence but the state prosecution team bowed to public pressure to appeal, the case.
It is unclear if Pistorius will be serving all the sentence as he has already spent about six months in jail.
