No More Drama: Chelsea, Mourinho end rift with Dr Eva Caneiro

Chelsea Football club has finally settled with Dr Eva Caneiro, the team Doctor who was involved in a public fall out with the former club manager Jose Mourinho. The blues released a statement to announce that the parties have reached an agreement at the employment tribunal in London on Tuesday.

Eva Caneiro had served at the Stamford bridge for six years before she was demoted by the club following her public castigation by the then manager who condemned her for tending to an injured Eden Hazard during a league match against Swansea in August 2015.

The 42-year old doctor had therefore claimed constructive dismissal by the Premier League club and sexual discrimination by Mourinho. It could also be recalled that both parties failed to reach a settlement earlier this year.

”The club regrets the circumstances which led to Dr Carneiro leaving the club and apologises unreservedly to her and her family for the distress caused. We wish to place on record that in running onto the pitch Dr Carneiro was following both the rules of the game and fulfilling her responsibility to the players as a doctor, putting their safety first, the statement reads.

”Dr Carneiro has always put the interests of the club’s players first.  Dr Carneiro is a highly competent and professional sports doctor. She was a valued member of the club’s medical team and we wish her every success in her future career.

What an interesting statement by Chelsea. If the club’s statement was something to go by, why then did the club demote and allowed the doctor leave. Its further showed that the situation was badly managed, else it would not have degenrated into a serious issue.

Settling down in Manchester and focusing on the job at the Old trafford is definitely be at the fore of Mourinho’s heart as he thanked Dr Carneiro for the excellent and dedicated support she provided to the Chelsea First Team and he wishes her a successful career.

For Mourinho; no distractions, no stories, and no drama outside the field of play prior to the commencement and during the season….
