Doubts Grows Over Mourinho’s Possibility Of Success At Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho

It has been confirmed that Jose Mourinho will be in charge at Manchester United for the next three years after agreeing a deal worth £30 million pounds with the Old Trafford Club.

Well, the unobtrusive yet conspicuous task for the former Chelsea manager who left Stamford bridge last December will be to return the club back to glory which means ensuring that United competes at the highest level, win laurels and play to the hearts of the fans.  In details, the British media reported that Mourinho, will be paid £5 million and £2.5 million respectively if he leads United to the Champions League or Premier League title.

However, some erstwhile United players have aired their divergent views on the appointments of the special one. Eric Cantona earlier this week claimed the Mourinho was renowned for his negative tactics was not good enough for the club, while defender Rio Ferdinand took to social media to announce and welcome the arrival of the Portuguese to Theater of Dreams.

“I love José Mourinho, but in terms of the type of football he plays I don’t think he is Manchester United, I love his personality, I love the passion he has for the game, his humour. He is very intelligent, he demands 100% of his players. And of course he wins things.

“But I don’t think it’s the type of football that the fans of Manchester United will love, even if they win. He can win with Manchester United. But do they expect that type of football, even if they win? I don’t think so.”   Eric Cantona

Rio Ferdinand say “I have heard many say the ‘Mourinho way’ is not the Manchester United style of playing football. However, the Chelsea team that Jose put together first time round when he entered the Premier League played with wingers and hurt teams with quick attacking play.

“This is a sign he knows how to get a team playing in a way Manchester United fans can look forward to seeing. One thing I can tell Manchester United fans is that they have got themselves a true winner in all aspects. His CV shows success.”

Former Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry also believes that the arrival of Jose marks a new era at Manchester United. “There’s no need to talk about how good he can be, we all know he can be amazing. Everyone now at United is dying for success and that’s personally what I associate them with, he stated.

“He has a certain way of playing and people might not say it’s the United way or be concerned about the youngsters.

The desperation at Old Trafford is evident, there is no room for mediocrity but success. However, should the conern be getting the job done or how the job is being done?
