You Can Now Apply On DigifyAfrica.com To Be Part of Google’s Digital Training For Nigerians

Google is making good its promise of training over 1 million Africans in digital and soft skills. The company has floated a website called DigifyAfrica.com.

The site is to act as the platform for all interested students or individuals to register for various training in Internet marketing, analytics, content management and web appreciation. The course is split into two parts- Bytes and Pro.

According to the site, ‘Digify Bytes offers a one or two-day workshop in locations around South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria, giving participants the chance to grow their digital marketing know-how. Aimed at learners and job-seekers aged 18-30 years, Digify Bytes will open up a whole new world of digital skills and job market advantages.’

Key FAQs Google wants applicants to know about Bytes is that it is:

  • FREE to attend
  • Full of practical digital skills to both learn and practice
  • A stepping stone to understanding and accessing new digital careers
  • A great way to understand how to build your own personal brand on digital platforms
  • Linked directly to learnership and job opportunities
  • An entry point to the Digify community of young digital professionals and jobseekers in SA, Kenya and Nigeria

While Digify Pro is an innovative training journey that intends to create the next generation of job-ready digital upstarts. Our trainees are put through their paces in an intensive three-month process in a real workplace.

According to Google, the training programme sharpens digital skills and vocational training and prepares candidates to be job-smart and work-ready. Currently running in Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa and in Kenya and Nigeria at the end of this year.

As a caveat, Google will benefit from Digify as the programme offers a wide-range of practical workshops on digital campaigns, social media and content creation, as well as training on Google Search, AdWords, YouTube and Analytics. Finally, we develop participants’ professional skills, preparing them for their ideal digital job, and helping to place graduates into full time jobs or internships upon programme completion.

The company through its Nigerian officials in Lagos have announced that it aims to train 50,000 students across all the major public high institutions in Lagos.
