Just as we think the data market is getting saturated with players saying and selling the same thing, the Nigerian Communications Commissions, NCC is planning to sell new spectrum to interested bidders.
The bid is for its 38GHz & 42GHz Bands. It will also be re-planning the 23GHz Microwave Spectrum Band.
To get this done, the NCC will be organising a stakeholders forum to get inputs from the general public before actual bid is carried out. In a press release made available on its website, the commission plan to make the process as transparent as possible.
“In line with the Commission’s practice of Industry-wide Consultations in carrying out its regulatory functions, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is currently exploring options for licensing users in the 38GHz & 42GHz Bands and re-planning of 23GHz Microwave Spectrum Band”
The agency is calling on “Industry stakeholders, service providers, investors, financiers, VAS providers and experts are therefore invited to an industry consultative forum to chart the way forward for the licensing of service providers” for these bands.
The forum will hold in on the 5th of May, at the Lagos Sheraton Hotels & Towers Ikeja.
