Manchester City Gets The Real Test For UCL Final

Manchester City have been pitched against former champions Real Madrid while Atletico Madrid will play Bayern Munich in the semi final of the UEFA Champions league.

It is indeed a stern test for City who are first timers at this level in Europe, but as it is often said, impossible is nothing. More so, both sides have met twice in  the Champions League group stage. Real won 3-2 in the Bernabeu with the return fixture ending 1-1 in 2012/13 season.

Having survived Paris Saint German in the quarter final, playing out a 2-2 draw in the first leg, and recording a 1-0 victory in the second leg, the Blue side of Manchester must be optimistic about their chances of reaching the finals. Getting past ten times champions, would be a tough call but the guys are dreaming.

“We are confident and we will aim to make it very difficult for Real Madrid over the two legs; we want to get to the final in Milan and we know we can do this,” – City’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain said.

For Real Madrid, There was a scare for Zinedine Zidane tutored side the scare from Wolfsburg in first leg was unexpected as the German side picked up a 2-0 victory before a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick in the second leg sent them through to the semi-finals.

Should Manuel Pellegrini’s side progress ahead of the Los Blancos, they will confront winner between Atletico and Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich. Manchester City host the first tie in England on 26 April while the return leg will be on 4 May at the Santiago Bernabéu.
