How Far With The HowFar App?

HowFar Mobile messaging app launched over a year ago. The app came at a time major tech giants such as Google, Facebook, Imo and Skype were ramping up and placing huge bets on mobile messaging.

The app was Nigeria’s first messaging app that looked very competitive in UI design, features and it has all what it takes to make some traction within the local market then spill to other sub-Saharan markets.

HowFar was designed and available to Android and iPhone users. The app currently has between 15 000 to 10 000 downloads on the Google Play Store for Android. iStore does not show number of downloads so we might not be able to ascertain the user base.

It is however surprising that HowFar was not given a mainstream push to get local users. In spite of the fact that WhatsApp and BBM were becoming Nigeria’s default messaging apps, HowFar has what it takes to get a local rep that can then be latched on to give the brand a bigger face in the market.

To confirm PageOne’s suspicion that the lack of communication to push the app is as a result of budget to push the app, a Twiiter user followed the same narrative saying”

The last tweet by HowFar on its Twitter page was on 9:46 AM – 22 Mar 2016. Perhaps the HowFar team are shopping for investors to kick start their marketing. We wish them all the best if that is the case.

PageOne reached out to the HowFar App team. We did not get any response as at the time of filing this report.
