The northern part of Nigeria has been in the local and international news headlines for many negative and ‘not so good’ reasons. However, it seems some folks up north are keen to see things change pretty soon.
Nasir el Rufai, the Governor of Kaduna state, has put his full weight behind the ‘Kaduna Startup Weekend. The event is organised by local tech entrepreneurs to serve as a platform where startups, creatives and the local tech community can meet for collaboration and investments to further build an ecosystem in the state.
Kaduna is in Nigeria’s north central zone and it is home to many small, medium scale business and creative Nigerians from all walks of life. The Startup Weekend, should be able to gather huge attendance.
‘Accelerating Your Startup’ is the theme of the event. Attendees will have a chance to learn from Ahmad Mukoshy of Gigalayer on how to bootstrap a startup. The event will also host Katung Aduwak of Viacom who will be speaking on how to build a startup brand.
The Kaduna Startup Weekend is in its second year. Organised by Zule Social Enterprise Company Limited, the company has a co-working space in 30, Lapai Road, Kaduna. It describes itself as “space for Startup entrepreneurs to generate Network Effect from working together and enjoy Cost Savings from sharing resources”.
