Contract Scam: 300 Companies to Refund $206 Million

*About 7 billion recovered so far

*Total of 41 billion to be refunded

After raising a probe panel, to scrutinise all contracts approved by the former National Security Adviser,NSA, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, the Presidency has issued a press release indicting about 300 companies.

Based on the press release by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the probe covered all contracts awarded by the NSA from 2011-2015. The probe committee was said to have discovered series of fraudulent contracts, over-payment and disregard for contract awarding process ‘Societe D’Equipment International was overpaid to the tune of 7.9 Million Euros and $7.09 Million.’

The committee was also reported to have discovered several private individuals who got contracts and did not execute any. ‘There was also evidence of payments to individuals and companies by ONSA without any contractual agreement or evidence of jobs executed. The committee further discovered that some companies failed to meet up their tax obligations for contracts executed.’
