As a result of the violent fall out of the Rivers state and national parliamentary elections, Nigeria Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has suspended all electoral matters in the state.
The Saturday polls degenerated into uncontrollable violence with gory killings and decapitations reported across the state. Yesterday evening, INEC cancelled elections in eight local governments citing irregularities and violence.
