One of Nigeria’s listed insurance provider, UnityKapital Assurance Plc said it has changed its name to Veritas Kapital Assurance.
There is no news about mergers, acquisition and or equity investment announced to have warranted the name change
However, the company said in a statement released that:
“This is to notify the Exchange and the general public that following the concluded divestment of Unity Bank Plc’s holdings in UnityKapital Assurance Plc and the Resolution passed by members of the Company at its Annual General Meeting held on 14th September, 2017, the company has changed its name from UnityKapital Assurance Plc to Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc.
The Registered Address of the Company remains at Plot 497, Abogo Largema Street, CBD, Abuja. All documents of the Company bearing its former name remain valid. Our esteemed customers’ nationwide, concerned authorities and the general public should please update their records accordingly and address all future business correspondence to Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc.”
It is possible that Veritas Registrar must have invested in UnityKapital Assurance to lead to the name change. However, there are no confirmation or denial from the company on the matter.
Neither UnityKapital nor Veritas Registrar could be reached for comments.
Veritas Registrars Limited was incorporated as Zenith Registrars Limited on 7th May 2004 to carry on Share Registration business in the Capital Market.
The company’s name was changed to Veritas Registrars Limited in December 2013. The company started with a share capital base of N70m, and today has grown to N2.4 billion, according to its disclosure.
