Italy’s Eni’s Versalis enters JV with Mazrui Energy on chemical production

Italy’s oil major, Eni said Versalis, its wholly-owned subsidiary, alongside Mazrui Energy Services, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that sets forth a game-changing partnership for the local production of innovative production chemicals for the Oil & Gas industry.

Versalis offers a comprehensive portfolio of oilfield chemicals that includes solutions for manufacturing and supply of chemical products for the oil & gas industry. A wide range of proprietary technologies, an R&D that keeps pace with the industry evolution, and customized solutions and after-sales services will provide a unique portfolio and capabilities to customers. Versalis is the largest Italian chemical company.

It is a producer of intermediates, polyethylene, styrenics and elastomers, and recently entered the bio-based chemicals and polymers industry collaborating with leading global biotech companies. The company has been refocusing its strategies on a more market-oriented product portfolio, reinforcing R&D and Licensing, and enhancing global presence.

The partnership will deliver industry driven solutions that support growing customer-led requirement to improve overall production, while significantly expanding Versalis’ reach in the UAE and other key, high-growth markets within the Middle East region.

The new partnership is expected to spark innovation and additional R&D in the production chemical markets by maximizing the product development talents and resources at both companies, while driving local manufacturing and efficiency in the partners respective supply chains.
