Derek Aberle, President of Qualcomm to leave by December

Qualcomm Incorporated said Derek Aberle has decided to leave the company.

Derek Aberle is leaving after a successful 17-year career during which he served as President of Qualcomm Incorporated and helped drive the Company’s overall global strategy and vision as a member of Qualcomm’s Executive Committee.

The departure of Derek Aberle will be effective as of December 31, 2017.

Mr. Derek K. Aberle has been the President at QUALCOMM Incorporated since March 10, 2014.

Mr. Aberle served as the Group President at QUALCOMM Incorporated from November 2011 to March 10, 2014 and served as its Executive Vice President from November 2011 to March 10, 2014. He served as the President of Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL) at QUALCOMM Incorporated.

Mr. Aberle joined Qualcomm in 2000. He has played a leading role in structuring and negotiating key license agreements with many of our leading licensees, including Ericsson, Huawei, LGE, Motorola, Nokia, RIM, Samsung, ZTE and many others. He served as the President of Omnitracs, Inc.

He served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of QTL. He joined Qualcomm after representing Qualcomm’s as outside counsel for several years at the law firms of Pillsbury Madison and Sutro and Heller Ehrman.

He serves as the Member of Board of Directors of EvoNexus. Mr. Aberle holds a bachelor’s degree in business economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

He also holds a Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude.
